Purpose:
For the relief of allergies including hayfever, allergic or itching skin conditions (e.g. eczema, dermatitis, hives); allergic reactions due to insect bites and stings; and the relief of nasal congestion due to common cold
Active Ingredients:
Promethazine Hydrochloride BP 25mg
General:
Antihistamines such as Phenergan operate by lowering the effects of histamine. The body releases histamines as a response to certain allergens and irritants. Antihistamines allieve swelling and itching help dry up mucus secretions associated with histamines.
Phenergan contains Promethazine which is anticholinergic. This calms muscle tissue by preventing the certain nerve pulses
Warning:
This medication may cause drowsiness. If affected do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery
Avoid alcohol
Not to be given to children under 2 years of age because safety of such use has not been established
Phenergan may cause photosensitive reactions
Keep out of reach of children
Store below 30°C. Protect from light
Dosage:
Adults: 1 - 2 tablets as a single dose at bedtime provides relief for up to 24 hours and minimises daytime drowsiness
Children: Lower strength 'Phenergan' 10mg tablets or Elixir (5mg/5ml) are recommended
