Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 50 mg
General:
Unisom Sleep is one of a group of medicines called phenothiazine antihistamines. It has a sedative action and it is used as an aid to help you sleep.
Before using Unisom Sleep:- If you answer "yes" to any of the questions below, tell your pharmacist or doctor before taking this medication – if these issues have not already been discussed with them:
- Have you taken a phenothiazine antihistamine such as ‘Phenergan’ or Avomine’ or similar drugs, before and had an allergic reaction? (if unsure, ask your doctor to check your records.)
- Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?
- Are you taking any other medication or have you taken any in the last 2 weeks?
- Do you suffer from asthma, bronchitis or a persistent cough?
- Do you have any kidney, liver or heart disease?
- Do you suffer from epilepsy?
- Do you have any eye diseases?
- Do you have any stomach or bladder diseases?
Unisom Sleep should not be used in babies, young children or people suffering from illnesses of the nervous system
After taking Unisom Sleep:- Most people do not have side-effects. However, as with most medicines, it can sometimes cause unwanted side-effects. Some of the side-effects can be drowsiness, dizziness, restlessness, headaches, nightmares, fatigue, disorientation, blurred vision, dry mouth and urinary retention. If you get unwanted side-effects tell your pharmacist or doctor and discontinue use.
Warnings:
Keep out of reach of children. This preparation may cause drowsiness and mayincrease the effects of alcohol. If affected, do not drive a motor vehicle or operatemachinery. Do not give to children under 12 years of age. If sleeplessness persistscontinuously for more than 7 to 10 consecutive nights, consult your doctor.
Overdosage: If an overdosage is suspected, consult a doctor, Poisons Information Centre or go to Casualty at your nearest hospital. Store below 25ᄚC. Use only if foil seal over capsule is intact.
Dosage:
Adults and children over 12 years of age: One SleepGel (50mg) at bedtime if needed, or as directed by a doctor
